This year long project allowed me the privilege of working in the heart of the industrial North east, whilst simultaneously being amongst stunning natural resources. Surrounded by oil refraction towers, nuclear power stations and city waste sites, Saltholme RSPB reserve is home to Golden Plovers Terns, Goldfinches, Sand Martins Egrets, and many more. I was commissioned to make a video work with schools and the community to examine the natural heritage of Saltholme reserve. Workshops combined the use of drawing, audio recording, photography and collage to make the video. As well as the video work we created a brass rubbing trail using the inspirational text that the young people developed, encouraging an activist response to environmental issues. |
